How Solarwave Solar Hot Water Heating System Works

Mechanism

Retrofit Friendly

During the first installation, cold water will be filled into the hot water storage tank. A water level diaphragm valve controls the water level and stops the water filling when the tank is full.

Solar energy from sunlight is absorbed through an evacuated vacuum tube manifold system, featuring a double glass wall design – where sunlight penetrates its outer layer made of transparent glass and is absorbed by the inner glass layer. Thanks to the wider exposure angle of the tube form design, more solar energy is absorbed. Heat energy is also retained effectively with the vacuum insulation between the double layer glass and 3-layer low emission, high absorption coating on the inner glass layer.

Warranty

The absorbed heat energy is then transmitted to the filled water in the hot water storage tank, increasing its temperature up to 80~99 deg.C. The hot water storage tank acts as a heat energy reservoir, sustaining heat to produce hot water for usage later.

During usage, cold water is fed into an inner copper coil that is immersed in the hot water tank. Cold water passing through the coil is instantly converted into hot water through a heat transfer phenomenon.

Working Mechanism

Why Choose Solarwave™ Solar Water Heater?

The working design of Solarwave solar water heater is unique from other solar water heater systems. On conventional solar water heater systems, the volume of hot water supply depends on the capacity of the hot water storage tank, which it simply withdraws hot water from.

The volume of hot water Solarwave solar water heater can produce is not limited by the its hot water storage tank size. Watch the demo video below to see how a Solarwave system with a 270 liter hot water storage tank can produce up to 350 liters of consistent, hot water.

Solarwave Product Features

1

Solar Collector in Evacuated Vacuum Tube Design

Tube form solar thermal collector that with vacuum insulation and double glass wall with 3 layers of high absorption coating greatly reduces heat loss. Its manifold design also creates a wider exposure angle & bigger absorption area to sunlight, reducing the need to orient typical solar collectors against sunlight.

Solarwave solar water heater’s solar collector offers better performance with faster heating speed and greater heat retention. Thanks to its vacuum insulation technology, the solar collectors requires no cleaning maintenance caused by condensation effects.

2

Stress-Free Hot Water Storage Tank

Solarwave hot water storage tank is designed as an open vent system, featuring an inner copper coil design.

Water pressure from a water source, for example, from a pressure booster water pump, does not get added to the hot water storage tank. This prevents it from becoming a pressure vessel. Instead, incoming water pressure only enters its internal inner copper coil. The key advantage to this design, that reduces the stress level borne by the hot water storage tank is that it helps prolong the product service life-span

Additionally, our hot water storage tank comes with a 10 year leak-free warranty featuring its seamless joint finishing, welded through a laser welding system.

Solarwave Features - Inner Copper Coil

Inner Copper Coil

The inner copper coil is designed to be immersed within the hot water storage tank, filed with solar energy heated water. It functions as a hot water outlet supply for usage.

Instead of mixing incoming cold water with solar heated water in the tank, cold water flows through the inner copper coil. As cold water flows through the inner copper coil, it absorbs heat energy from the surrounding hot water and instantly converts into hot water to hot water for usage.

The existence of the inner copper coil prevents direct mixing and dilution of incoming cold water with the stored heated water.

Solarwave Features - mechanism

Heat Transfer Mechanism

The unique method of producing hot water through the natural phenomenon of heat transfer when cold water flows through the inner copper coil, enables Solarwave solar water heater to produce consistent a hot water temperature, even under heavy usage or during gloomy weathers. Users will enjoy the benefits of energy-saving and low-cost hot water supply.

Solarwave Features - hygiene

More Hygiene Hot Water Supplies

Unlike conventional solar water heater systems that withdraw water for usage directly from its hot water storage tank, Solarwave produces hot water from incoming cold water, passing through its unique inner copper coil.

This ensures users enjoy cleaner and more hygienic hot water, as the water for usage is not exposed to contaminants in the hot water storage tank that could be deposited from incoming water supply over a long-term usage.

Solarwave Features - backup heater

Advanced Electrical Back-up Heater

All Solarwave Solar Water Heaters are equipped with a 2.8kW electrical backup heater that functions as a temporary heating booster, should hot water be needed during pro-longed gloomy weather conditions. Using an advanced non-metal type silicone composite material as its heating element, it provides water scaling prevention and offers faster heating speed of 40~50% against conventional metal type heating elements.

SOLAR WATER HEATER COMPARISON

Most conventional solar water heater systems limits users to 60 or 80 gallons of hot water. With Solarwave™, you are no longer restricted to the storage tank capacity anymore. Our unique heat transfer mechanism allows you to enjoy greater hot water capacity.

2

Thermosyphone Principle

Solar collectors on Solarwave™ are made with a tubular design to provide a wider surface area for solar energy absorption.

Conventional solar collectors are usually made from fast panels.

Cold water is heated instantly as it flows through an inner copper coil passing through the hot water storage tank. The system uses a heat transfer mechanism to enable a continuous supply of hot water.

Hot water for usage is drawn directly from the hot water storage tank, where cold water is mixed with the existing hot water. The continuous adding of cold water into the storage tank, limits the hot water availability at any one time.

Uses a heat transfer mechanism to enable a continuous supply of hot water.

This ends up resulting in a water temperature drop, making it hard to get consistent hot water during evenings.

An additional add-on, called the ‘Assistant Tank’, controls the water inlets and when the temperature reaches 90-100°C, allows excess heat to evaporate via an air relief valve to maintain a consistent temperature in the tank. This enables our water storage tank to function without a water feed or having to sustain heat pressure.

Additionally, conventional hot water storage tanks are constantly under pressure from water feed and heat. This makes cracks and water leakages highly probable.
